Example letter

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Site Engineer role. I completed my B.Tech in Civil Engineering this year, and my internship on a residential construction site showed me how much I enjoy practical work on site.

During a three-month internship on a G+5 apartment project, I helped the site engineer check reinforcement before concreting, recorded daily progress and material consumption, and prepared bar bending schedules for two floors. I also cross-checked a subcontractor's bill against measured quantities and found an excess of 2.5 cubic metres of concrete, which was corrected before payment. I am comfortable with AutoCAD, STAAD Pro and estimating in Excel.

Your role involves supervising work, maintaining quality and coordinating with contractors, all of which I practised during my internship. I am willing to relocate to project sites, and I would welcome the chance to discuss how I can contribute.
