Example letter

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Junior UI/UX Designer role. I design simple, accessible interfaces in Figma, and my portfolio includes three case studies that show my full process from research to tested designs.

In my strongest case study, I redesigned the fee-payment flow of my college's student portal. I interviewed 12 students, found that most failed payments came from a confusing confirmation step, and tested two prototypes with eight users. The new flow cut the average time to pay from four minutes to under two in testing, and the college's IT team is using my designs in their next update. I work with design systems, auto layout and prototypes, and I understand enough HTML and CSS to hand off clearly to developers.

Your team designs products for first-time internet users, and that is the kind of design problem I care about most. I would welcome the chance to walk you through my portfolio.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
